Welcome to the Web Page of the Rehoboth Police Department.  My name is Norman J. Miranda Jr., and I have the distinct Privilege
Chief of Police
Norman J. Miranda Jr.

of serving as Chief of Police to this outstanding organization.  The Rehoboth Police Department currently has 23 sworn officers, and 5 civilian support staff employees.  We serve a community of slightly under 12,000 residents.  Our entire staff both sworn and civilian are highly trained and dedicated professionals who work together as a team to provide our residents with quality protection.

Policing in general is a unique profession.  There is a constant need for change.  Police Officers must be able to adjust in an instant to the highs and lows that exist in the field.  At one moment an officer could be engaging in an idle conversation with a group of children, and moments later be involved in a life threatening situation.  Often there is little time to prepare for this sudden transition; hence officers must rely on their constant training and experience to guide them in their actions.  Sometimes, we lose sight of the fact that Police Officers are ordinary citizens, husbands, wives, fathers, mothers and coaches, who are asked to do an extraordinary job.

We consider ourselves fortunate to have the finest law enforcement technology, equipment and training available, however, we realize that our strongest asset is by far our personnel.  All members of our police department pride themselves on their appearance, demeanor, and professionalism.  Approximately 90 percent of Rehoboth Police Officers possess various college degrees.  Each and every member of the Rehoboth Police Department is held to a high standard, as we feel that our citizens deserve the highest level of police service available and nothing less.  We expect our police officers to serve as symbols of security and role models to the comunity.

I can honestly say that it continues to be an honor and a pleasure to serve as Chief to what I consider to be the finest group of police officers serving in the law enforcement profession.  I sincerely hope that you find our web site both enjoyable and informative.
